Heroic RPG Day at CSW!

Saturday, April 24 two KGS members will be hosting events at Comic Store West's Heroic RPG Day. The event is being held to celebrate the release of the Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game by Margaret Weis. Sessions are from 11-3 and 4-8.

Scott will be running the new Marvel RPG in both sessions. Sam will be running Judge Dredd in the first session. Advanced sign-ups are required. When I checked earlier today, there were only a few spots left! Hope to see you there!

 

KGS Founding Father Retires From Comic Store West

KGS would be remiss if we allowed the occasion to pass without comment. The fella that initially formed the gaming group that would become KGS retired today after 25 years in the comics industry. While this is sad news for Comic Store West (which is left in the capable hands of Brian Waltersdorff and Joe Miller with Scott as manager), it may be KGS's gain because we're trying really hard to get Brett to use his newly discovered free time to return to the gaming table with us.

Brett - job well done! Congratulations on your retirement! I wonder if those signs that say, "Brett's Office" will be changed to read, "Brian's Office?"

Free Comic Book Day at Comic Store West

I stopped by FCBD today at CSW (I believe this is the first time I've ever actually been in CSW on the actual FCBD.) I must say that I was impressed. The store was PACKED with people and this was at 11:00 in the morning! It was seriously like a carnival in there. There was a man in an absolutely fabulous Thor costume there, complete with Mjolnir (Thor's hammer) that weighed 42 pounds. Thor said he made it himself when he was 18. I was quite impressed and I was glad he was smiling because he could have cleaved me in half with that thing (he tossed in into the air lightly before holstering it). There was a totally black Storm Trooper (was that one of the pilots? I don't know) that was movie-authentic. But the real cherry on the sundae was Brian in a full-head-to-toe Green Lantern uniform. I've got to give the man props. That takes some guts. I even saw some customers in full costume. In my brief period of time there I saw a bunch of kids taking pictures with the various character populating the store and having a blast. I'm glad the FCBD wasn't just a one-year event but has persisted over the years. How can it be bad for an aging industry to have scores of kids drooling over your product and interacting with your characters? I, myself, still have a picture of when I met Spider-Man as a four year old. Think that made an impression on me *cough* *lifelongaddiction* *cough*. My own children giddily snatched up comic books which they then poured over in the car and at lunch. =) *Sniff* Daddy's so proud!

Magnamundays at CSW

Starting this upcoming Monday, the forth Monday of each month  you will be able to be mystically whisked away to Magnamund, the world in which the Lone Wolf solo adventure books and RPG is set. This event is called Magnamundays! Dave Kot, friend of KGS, will be running Lone Wolf Multiplayer for anyone who wishes to play! So grab a D10 and head to Comic Store West to check out this simple gaming system set in the complex world of Magnamund! FOR SUMMERLUND!

RPG DAY - March 12 at Comic Store West

So far we have Jason of the Crimson Hand Gamers running a 3rd edition Mutants and Masterminds adventure. Brett, who is a member of both KGS and CHG, will be running Pathfinder.

Let's go KGS guys step up and volunteer to run a game.
